The election for president of Panchayat district takes place today in eight districts of Purvanchal (divisions Varanasi, Azamgarh and Mirzapur). In five of these eight districts, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Azamgarh, Ghazipur and Ballia, the BJP is in direct conflict with the Samajwadi party. In Jaunpur and Sonbhadra, the candidates of the NDA ally Apna Dal (S) compete against the SP.In Bhadohi there is a direct competition between the brother of BJP MLA Rabindranath Tripathi and the former block chief Anirudh Tripathi and Amit Singh Prince for the post of speaker. At the same time, the BJP had declared Amit Singh to be its candidate, but later withdrew its support. BJP candidate was elected unanimously in Varanasi and Mau.
