Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is in talks with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to screen a video during the Oscars telecast on Sunday. However, the organizers of the Academy Awards are still undecided about whether to allow this appearance to happen. Officials have said they would not comment on the subject.

According to a New York Post report, in the event President Zelensky is in attendance, it is unclear whether he will appear live or via a pre-recorded message. According to sources, discussions are on whether Oscar should remain politically neutral as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues.

Reports suggest that ABC, the company that is airing the Oscars show on Sunday, is in favor of President Zelensky’s presence at the awards show. However, ABC has not officially commented on this.

According to a report in CNN, the show’s executive producer Will Packer said that Oscar would not shy away from acknowledging the conflict in Ukraine. During a virtual news conference, Mr Packer told reporters this was a turning point in human history, and he was aware of it. Therefore, anyone who comes across such a show must be aware of the fact that “where are we and how fortunate we are to be able to do this show”.

A few days ago, President Zelensky thanked Ukraine-born actress Mila Kunis for her contribution to war refugees. The actress raised $35 million with her husband Ashton Kutcher. On Twitter, President Zelensky shared a photo of him and the Hollywood couple at a Zoom meeting.

Former actor, President Zelensky has starred in the TV show public servantIn which he plays a history teacher, who is mistakenly elected president after a video of his character raising anti-corruption slogans went viral, a Daily Mail report said.
