Chhutmalpur. Due to attacks on both banks of the Nagdev River, the water on the river bed between the villages of Datauli, Mughal and Lakhnauti has stagnated for one meter for 15 days. Because of this, the villagers have to go through a lot of trouble. Nobody is willing to pay attention to their problem.
The Nagdev River is located between Datauli and Lakhnauti on the road connecting a dozen villages of the Muzaffarabad block with the villages of Ramkhedi, Behda Sandal Singh, Datauli Mughal, etc. of the Punwarka development block and Janta road. The bridge of this river was broken in 1992. After that, in 2013, the then Pramukh Rao Israr had the roof built on it during his tenure, but in recent years, due to the permanent occupation on both banks of the Nagdev River, it has taken the form of a small drain in this area. Since the river’s water cannot drain away after the rain in recent days, it has accumulated on the bottom. Because of this, the villagers have to travel 10 km extra to reach the district headquarters.
Ramesh Dhiman, a resident of Bishanpur Village, said that I have been going to work in another village morning and evening from this water for 15 days.
Rao Farmood, a resident of Datauli Mughal village, says the villagers have repeatedly asked the regional MLA to build a bridge over the river, but no hearing has taken place.
Mohammad Shahzad said that the people on both sides of the river ended its existence through illegal occupation. In such a situation, the water coming into the river does not have enough space to drain.
Former Chief Representative Rao Shakib said villagers face problems every year during the rainy season. He also asked the officials several times to resolve the issue, but there was no hearing.
The investigation is carried out by dispatching the collection team to the site. Illegal interference in the river will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Unlawful interference is identified and efforts are made to eliminate them.
