The water level of Ganga in Banaras is just 12 cm below the danger mark of 71.26 meters. Due to the rise in water level, where water has started entering the urban colonies, boats have started plying in the streets as well. The road has been closed due to the rise of Ganga water on Assi-Nagwan main road. The ferry operation is being done due to flood waters in the lanes connected to the ghat. Due to increasing miseries in the Varuna Par area, there is a rapid migration. According to the Central Water Commission, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 71.14 meters at 7 pm.
The water level of Ganga was at 70.96 meters at 8 am on Sunday. The water level of Ganga reached 70.98 meters at 11 am. From 12 o’clock, the Ganga started increasing at a speed of two cm per hour and by 7 pm the water level reached 71.14 meters. See next slides….
