After a long wait, it has finally started raining in many of UP’s cities including Kanpur. In Kanpur it is raining like a torrential rain with heavy thunder of clouds. Rain has also set in in Chitrakoot, Etawah, Auraiya, Banda, Fatehpur, Unnao, Hardoi, Hamirpur. Heavy rains were warned from July 18-22. In the midst of the scorching heat and humidity, people were able to breathe a sigh of relief from the rain. At the same time, the Meteorological Department issued a red alert. The Meteorological Department has advised you to be careful with lightning. It started raining from midnight on Monday and lasted until morning. Before that, it rained heavily on Sunday at midnight from around 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. 75mm of rain was recorded in about two and a half hours, which is the highest in a day at this time of the year. In the same month (Ashan) on July 8th, 40 mm of rain fell.
