UGC Recognises Madhusudan Law University In The List Of ‘Universities’


New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC), a legal body, has finally recognized Madhusudan Law University, the oldest legal institute in the state of Odisha, in the list of “universities”. Tagged PM Narendra Modi in a tweet, Pradhan wrote, “The eight-decade-old institution named after Utkal Gaurav Madhubabu is one of the best law schools in the region. Previously, the state government had issued an official notice of the establishment of a new university called Madhusudan Law University at Cuttack by updating Madhusudan Law College, Cuttack, effective April 28, 2021.

The University Grants Commission has written a letter to the Registrar of Madhusudan Law University stating, “The notice of establishment of the university issued by the government of Odisha is submitted to the Legislature of Odisha State under Section 32.4) of the Odisha University Law, 1989.

The Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education established the University Grant Commission.
