FWICE supports Sajid Khan’s participation in Bigg Boss 16; He says: “He has served his sentence”

The filmmaker and #MeToo allege that Sajid Khan’s entry into Bigg Boss 16 has created a lot of buzz on social media, with many netizens and celebrities criticizing the channel and the show’s creators for casting him in the reality show.

Recently, the head of DCW wrote to Union Minister Anurag Thakur demanding the removal of filmmaker Sajid Khan from Bigg Boss 16 over allegations of sexual harassment. Now the Federation of Western Indian Film Employees (FWICE) has come out in support of Sajid.

FWICE has written a letter to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, mentioning that Sajid has served his sentence. Sajid was suspended for one year, which was lifted in March 2019.

The letter stated, “During this action initiated by IFTDA and FWICE, Sajid Khan did not cooperate with FWICE and was banned from working in the film industry for one year. Sajid Khan cooperated with IFTDA and FWICE and followed the POSH committee’s decision. FWICE was satisfied with his behavior during the period of his ban and FWICE lifted Mr. Sajid Khan’s ban on 14.03.2019 after completing one year of his sentence, Sajid Khan has now entered Bigg Boss to earn a living,

“He has also been through difficult trials and a lot of humiliation from the POSH committee during those difficult days on social media and other public platforms. A person who has already served their sentence and complies with the IFTDA and FWICE decision cannot be prosecuted again for the same crime. He has every right to survive and make a living and thus has joined the Bigg Boss program. Therefore, you are requested to kindly allow Sajid Khan to work for the Bigg Boss program and not take any action against him as per the appeal filed by the Delhi Commission for Women.

Meanwhile, netizens along with celebrities like Mandana Karimi, Sona Mohapatra, Sherlyn Chopra, and Urfi Javed have strongly opposed Sajid Khan’s involvement in Bigg Boss 16.
