Airtel 5G vs Jio 5G availability
Airtel 5G Plus was introduced following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge that 5G would be available in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Varanasi and Gurugram by October 1, 2022. On the backend, however, 5G operations begin in August 2022.
On October 5, 2022, Jio True 5G was introduced in four major Indian cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Varanasi.
Airtel 5G Vs Jio 5G Technology
Jio and Airtel both use different network architecture. Whereas Airtel 5G uses NSA network. It is built on top of existing 4G infrastructure, which enables upgrading to 5G simple for network service providers.
Jio’s 5G services are based on a standalone (SA) network, which was built completely from scratch. It is a stand-alone network that is independent of the underlying infrastructure. Although the SA 5G method is expensive, it is claimed to be faster, more reliable and capable than the NSA network.
As a result, Jio’s 5G service will be better than Airtel’s. However, Airtel claims that both its quality and the efficacy of its network are up to par.
Airtel 5G vs Jio 5G speed
Ookla reported that during a test in Delhi, Jio 5G was able to reach download speeds of 600Mbps. While in Varanasi, Airtel 5G offered peak speed of 516Mbps. Also, Jio almost crossed the 600Mbps limit in Delhi, while Airtel averaged 200Mbps speed.
Jio will undoubtedly offer faster speeds now that it has acquired the 700Mhz band for coverage, the 3.5Ghz band for capacity and the 26Ghz mmWave band for additional internet speeds.
Airtel 5G vs Jio 5G plan prices
Jio True 5G will be offered with unlimited 5G bandwidth and 1Gbps download and upload speeds. All prepaid and postpaid plans costing INR 239 or more will include this. However, testing Jio 5G requires the Jio Welcome Offer, available via invitation.
The pricing of the 5G offerings from Airtel is quite aggressive. Accordingly, both the 4G SIM card and 5G-enabled handset will be cost-competitive with existing 4G contracts.
Customers already benefit from unlimited 4G prepaid bundles, priced from Rs. 500 to Rs. 600. The pricing for the 5G plans could fall within a similar range.
How to use 5G services in India?
- There are three steps you need to complete for 5G to work. A 5G-compatible smartphone and a SIM card with that capability are required. You will then need to modify your handset’s settings to enable the latest network. Select the 5G network mode by going to the Options tab, Connections or Mobile networks.
- Airtel and Reliance Jio users can use their existing SIMs to experience 5G. This simply means that there is no need to change the SIM to use the 5G network.
- According to some reports, individuals may not be able to fully exploit 5G networks in eligible cities if there is no 5G cell tower nearby. It simply means that unless a person is in a good 5G coverage area, he or she will not get the full bandwidth speed and network capacity. People can check the locations of 5G towers in the eligible city by downloading the “Speedtest by Ookla” app.
If you live in a city like Delhi or Mumbai, there are high chances that you will choose Jio 5G for the coverage and speed. However, its invite-only policy may be a hindrance for the time being.
Although there will be some speed compromises, Airtel 5G subscribers will be glad that the service is offered in additional areas. So, choosing between Jio 5G and Airtel 5G basically comes down to personal preference.
