Season 1 of Shark Tank India proved to be a very successful venture. The show turned out to be a hit and people really enjoyed the Indian version of Shark Tank. The judging panel included Shark, BharatPe Managing Director and Co-Founder, Aman Gupta, boAt Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer, Anupam Mittal, Founder and CEO and People Group, Ghazal Alagh Co-Founder and Head. Mamaearth’s maternal uncle, Namita Thapar, executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Piyush Bansal, co-founder and CEO of Lenskart, and
Vinita Singh is the CEO and Co-Founder of Sugar Cosmetics. Many memorable events took place in the show. Amidst all this, a contestant reminded judge Namita Thapar of filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Sairaj Gaurish Dhond, Founder and CEO, Wakao Foods, reminded Namita Thapar of Rohit Shetty. His features reminded Shark of the Simmba filmmaker. He came up with an interesting sales pitch of food made by Jackfruit. His vision was to take Jackfruit to every corner of the world and develop his brand internationally. He was a lawyer by profession and he got tired of it and decided to create a food brand specialized in jackfruit products. At the end of the pitch, he did manage to impress the Sharks and secure a deal for himself. Mamaearth Chief Mama Ghazal Alagh, Sugar Cosmetics CEO Vinita Singh and Emcure Pharmaceuticals Executive Director Namita Thapar offered him Rs 75 lakh for 30% equity. On the other hand, Lenskart CEO Piyush Bansal was willing to invest Rs 15 lakh for 5% equity with a debt of Rs 60 lakh at 12% interest. In the end he got the deal of three women for Rs 75 lakhs for 21% equity.
