In order to make the academic session in 2020 and 2021 irregular due to a corona infection and to make it regular again, it was decided by the Aligarh Muslim University that there will be no summer holidays this year.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Presidium, one of the university’s three governing bodies, on June 14th. At the meeting it was decided that the university teachers would receive 35 days of detention instead of the summer vacation at this academic meeting. In the board meeting it was decided that the academic career of the students should be the highest priority for the university.
The damage to education and educational activities caused by the pandemic must be replaced. Whatever damage was inflicted on the students should be compensated as much as possible. The Union’s Ministry of Education and the Study Grants Commission have also emphasized this objective. With this in mind, it was decided to cancel the summer vacation in the 2020-21 academic session. In the past year after the outbreak of the epidemic, the annual and session exams were carried out by the university via an online medium. Thereafter, the entrance exams were conducted offline, but academic activities were resumed online after the second wave. In this way, the university management has largely succeeded in getting the academic session back on track.
