Saharanpur. The disorderly work of making smart roads is causing problems for the people. Excavation was done on the left side on Court Road for more than a month, after which now the other side has also been dug. Due to this, there was a traffic jam for the whole day. Even the four wheeler drivers had to pass through the narrow lanes of the colonies.
Under the Smart City Scheme, the work of developing Court Road as a Smart Road is going on for about three months. In the work of Smart Road, sometimes there are hurdles due to pipeline laying and sometimes sewer line. Roads have been dug up. Due to this, while pedestrians are facing difficulty in walking, on the other hand the business of local traders has come to a standstill. The traders concerned have met the officials several times regarding this, but the work is not gaining momentum. Earlier one side was dug up from Court Road overbridge to Parsvnath Plaza. On Friday, JCB was also installed on the other side in front of Hathi Gate. Due to the work on both the roads simultaneously, trouble arose in front of the passers-by on this very busy road. There was a queue of vehicles on the Court Road overbridge throughout the day. Even four wheelers were pulled from the streets of Gill Colony and Mission Compound. The vehicle got stuck in a ditch near the church in Mission Compound. This also caused problems for those coming to the mission compound.
Rain is also becoming an obstacle
Smart road work has been started in rainy days. All lines have to be underground. For this, the road has been dug up to two and a half to three feet. Because it is rainy season. In such a situation, whenever it rains, the work is stopped for two to three days. Due to this also the work is getting delayed.
Clouds of dust, making sick
The road from Ghantaghar to Court Road overbridge has been dug up for about three months. On the other hand, the GPO road leading from the railway station to the Court Road overbridge has also been dug up for about five months due to the laying of sewer lines. Clouds of dust rise due to the movement of vehicles throughout the day. Due to this, passers-by as well as shopkeepers are troubled by the dust, who are suffering from cough.
The obstacles which were there in the construction work of Smart Road have been removed. Now the work is going on at full speed. There was some work on the other side on Friday, due to which the traffic has been affected slightly. Now one side is fully operational.
