The railway bridge is being built 120 meters from the old bridge to save living space in Daraganj – The railway bridge is being built 120 meters from the old bridge to save living space in Daraganj

In order to save the houses of the people who have lived in Daraganj for years, the railways have found a middle ground. The railway will build the new railway bridge about 120 meters from the old railway bridge on the Daraganj side. In this way, many homes are saved from collapse. The track coming from this bridge will be merged with the Daraganj-Prayagraj Rambagh line and removed from the parade ground. In fact, the railway line from Varanasi to Prayagraj Junction is doubled by the Northeast Railway. It is for this reason that the railways have started building the bridge here to connect Jhansi with Daraganj. It is being built between the old railway bridge and the Shastri bridge, but due to the populated Daraganj side, the construction of this bridge has been slightly modified by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). In fact, the railroad has given RVNL responsibility for building this bridge.

According to the design of the new bridge, it is about 55 meters away from the old railway bridge on the Jhunsi side, while this bridge on the Daraganj side will now be about 120 meters away. If this bridge had also been 55 meters away on the Daraganj side, there would have been a break in the homes of everyone there. But that won’t happen now. The bridge is being built under the supervision of RVNL project manager Vinay Aggarwal. A total of 25 piers will be erected on this 1.92 km long bridge. The bridge is expected to be ready in 2024.

The old Jhansi Rail Bridge was built in 1909

The old railway bridge between Daraganj and Jhansi was built in 1909. The bridge was then built under the supervision of the British officer iZet. For this reason this bridge is also known as the ijet bridge. The bridge has pillars every 45.70 meters. It has a total of 40 pillars. Its height is 18.71 meters. There used to be a measuring line on this bridge, later it was converted into a branding gauge. Due to the doubling of the Varanasi-Prayagraj line, the construction of another bridge began here.
