Saharapur. The construction of the sports university, which has stalled for eight years, is to begin this month. The technical approval of Lucknow is still pending, efforts are being made to achieve this. Rs 16 crore is currently on the account for the construction of the sports college.
The sports college was allocated to Saharanpur by the BSP government in 2010. The place for the college was completed in the village of Behat in Sherullapur Jatowala. Construction work had also started. The construction work was stopped in 2013. The main obstacle to building the college was its location on the bank of the rainy river. DM PK Pandey had attended college about two years ago. He dropped the land under the river and sent the government a proposal to give 72 bighas of land for the sports school from the Department of Irrigation, which was approved. In July 2020 the then Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Kumar and DM Akhilesh Singh visited the college. Officials from the construction, irrigation and sports departments also accompanied him. Officials ordered construction to begin soon by correcting the cost estimate for the construction of the sports college. Nevertheless, the construction work has not started to this day. Construction is to begin this month.

Currently, the department is available for construction work in the sports school Rs 16 crore. A 400-meter running track, hostel, administration building, water tank, multi-purpose hall, volleyball and kabaddi area will be prepared from this.
