State public universities to have Samarth project for complete information management

BHUBANESWAR: Center has come up with a pro enterprise resources planning (ERP) system for higher education institutions of the country. Odisha government has decided to implement it. The project will help the state’s public universities and autonomous colleges to make these institutions paperless and keep every record of faculty, students and staff digitally in their database. The project is being implemented by Delhi University (DU). Official sources said Samarth is an ERP automation software designed to help higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country to move from paper-based, unreliable third-party ERP systems to a secure, reliable and scalable one. The state government has already sent a confirmation letter to implement this enabled ERP suite in the HEI of Odisha. Odisha State Council of Higher Education (OSHEC) vice-chairman Ashok Kumar Das was identified as the nodal officer for coordination between the state’s public universities and autonomous colleges and the Samarth team of Delhi University. Das said that OSHEC will act as the nodal agency for the implementation of ERP. “The project team will start the on-boarding process of the ERP suite at the earliest. We will first implement it in 14 state public universities. Later it will be done in autonomous colleges. Two persons (nodal officer and associate nodal officer) from each university. Will manage the project in their respective institute. He said that the ERP project will manage the ‘Student Development Life Cycle’ and ‘e-Governance for Institutions/Universities’. It will include Accounts and Finance, Academics, Administration, Aadhaar Module, Student related There are categories like Services, Establishment, Governance and Human Resources. Under the Accounts and Finance category, an organization can fill in information for Bill Tracking System, Fee Management, Payroll Management, Budgeting and Accounts and Purchase of Goods. The categories are Training of Programs, Academic Management, Evaluation and Grading, Research Management and Management of Instructors. Under the Administration category, a University Affiliation Management, Endowment Portal, Research Project Management System, File Management and Tracking System can feed data to. The range of student related services would be student feedback, admissions, alumni portal, hostel management and training and placement.
