Due to the neglect of the Varanasi Municipal Corporation during the monsoon season, the roads were sunk into sewers with no rain. This situation affects not just one place, but most parts of the city. This creates so much bad odor that it is difficult for people to cover their mouths under force. In this the sewer flows in the middle of the city from Piplani Katra to Kabirchaura along the Lanka intersection and on the Pandeypur market. A similar situation is also in Sarkaripura of Manduwadih. Here, too, people have to go through the sewer system. Many claims are made by the city council for timely drainage, canal removal, and other facilities, but given the nature of the situation, these claims are being revealed. It seems like the officer in charge won’t even leave town.

If the officials had come into town and seen the problem, people might not have faced such a problem. On Wednesday people came from Piplani Katra to Kabirchaura and from the sewers that flow at the intersection of Lanka. The officers’ vehicles kept coming from here. In addition, sewage is dumped on the street in Sarkaripura near Manduwadih. The people who went from here only went with their faces covered.

Even in the village of Pandeypur in Beriwan, people had to go to the central sewer. Jalkal’s secretary, Siddharth Kumar, said the sewers will be cleaned and the complaint will be resolved immediately. No sewer overflows have been reported in many places in the city. The problem will be resolved with priority. City councils are furious at the carelessness and irregularity of the street lighting. They are closed in some places as the street lights are not being repaired. As the complaints were not dealt with, three city councilors wrote a written complaint to the mayor and requested the EESL to be blacklisted.Qazisadullapura City Councilor Ramzan Ali, Katehar City Councilor Afzal Ansari and Kamalgadha City Councilor Malka Noorjahan said in the complaint letter to the municipal commissioner that there are repeated complaints about the lights being switched off, but the louse does not crawl on the ears of the EESL. The condition of the wards in Muslim areas has become very poor during the rainy season. The streets and alleys are dark due to the poor lighting.
