SS Rajamouli wanted to direct Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan but rejected due to THIS reason, reveals film’s writer KV Vijayendra Prasad
Salman Khan leading actor Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which won the 63rd National Film Award for Best Popular Healthy Entertainment Film, was co-written by SS Rajamouli’s father and veteran screenwriter Koduri Viswa Vijayendra Prasad, who will also write the sequel. While work is underway on the sequel, Vijayendra Prasad revealed that his son Rajamouli was keen on directing Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but he gave it away as he was busy directing the pinnacle of his blockbuster franchise, Baahubali turn.
Speaking of the Bajrangi Bhaijaan sequel, Vijayendra Prasad said: “Before I told Salman Bhai the story, I told it to my son and tears welled up in his eyes. I asked if I should keep the story for him but he asked me to give it away. When the film was released, he came up to me and said, “Dad, you asked me at the wrong time. I was shooting the climax of Baahubali 1 and it was a nervous situation at the time. Did you ask me? 10 days before or after I would have directed the film.”
At the pre-release event of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR, Salman Khan announced that his 2015 hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan would return with a sequel. The Dabangg Khan slipped into the announcement as he spoke about Rajamouli’s father, how the veteran author gave him one of the biggest films of his career. Speaking about this, Vijayendra Prasad said, “Yes, the story jumps 8 to 10 years in Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. I’m confident that the sequel will be no less than the first part.”
The first part of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, directed by Kabir Khan, tells the story of a Lord Hanuman devotee, Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi, who embarks on a journey to reunite a hearing-impaired girl with her family in Pakistan after accidentally leaving her in India was left behind. Also starring were Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Harshaali Malhotra.
