Aligarh. Social organizations have written a letter to the traffic police and municipal utilities regarding the problems pedestrians and motorists have suffered from the attacks on the city’s red-light crossings and their request to free them. A letter from Citizen Chetna Samiti and the Citizen Welfare Association said the red light crossing is a positive move for the transportation system. But the present interference hampers traffic in other ways. At the time of the green change at the intersections, this intervention means that the drivers are not able to cross the intersection within the prescribed time. This leads to chaos and disorder. The letter states that a barrier has also been erected at the Kishanpur intersection that leads directly to Meenakshi Bridge. When no traffic has to be stopped here. Likewise, due to assaults at the Kela Nagar intersection, drivers cannot cross the intersection within the prescribed time. Before that, the light turns red. There is a huge problem of interference here. There is a green light at all red lights to turn left, but the traffic stopped due to the red light cannot give space to drivers turning left. This leads to more traffic jams. Currently, the traffic on the city streets is not fully used. When the schools open and coaching starts working, the situation becomes even more complicated. The letter demands that intersections with red traffic lights be exempted from intervention at the earliest. This takes the strain off drivers in the city.
