Mathura. The local authority has taken swift measures to avoid paying the arrears housing and water tax. For this reason the Shanti Guesthouse was sealed on Tuesday. This action caused panic among the defaulters.
As of July 1st, Mathura Vrindavan Municipal Corporation started a campaign to collect various taxes. An OTS program is also currently running, under which defaulting persons are granted a 100% interest waiver. On Tuesday, the Shanti Guest House on BSA College Road was sealed for failure to pay the arrears house tax. In addition to the police, Tax Commissioner Umaid Singh’s team was also present at the action.
Chief Assessment Officer Shivkumar Gautam said there is approximately Rs 1 lakh 85,000 pending for the guest house. The recovery goal for the month of July has been set at Rs 2 billion. In contrast, Rs 75 lakh have been deposited so far. Community Commissioner Anunay Jha has asked the population to deposit their outstanding taxes immediately in order to avoid unpleasant actions. Otherwise, strict action can be taken against them as well.
