Karnailganj (gondola). The water level of the Saryu (Ghaghra) River has started to rise rapidly. The river’s water level has risen to the danger mark due to hilly drains and rainwater. Villagers have lost their sleep due to the rise in the water level of the Saryu River by about 50 cm in the past 24 hours. In some of the majras in the villages of Majha, Raipur and Nakhara the water filled up quickly. On Tuesday, the outflow of the Ghaghra River increased to about 3 lakh 10 thousand cusec, and the rise in the water level of the river continued until late in the evening. The Ghaghra River has been pouring since Tuesday morning due to steady rain in the surrounding districts and the release of water from various barrages in the downhill drains.
The water level of the river, which was around 50 cm below the danger mark on Monday, rose sharply to just under 5 cm below the danger mark by Tuesday evening. The water level reached 105.997 on Tuesday relative to Elgin Bridge warning point 106.07. The ongoing repair and maintenance work on the dam will be affected by the rains. Workers find it difficult to work. The flow of the river increases its flow. Due to the rain, there were rain cuts and large potholes in places on the dam. However, although the flood department officials are busy with the work to fill it, the work is being hampered by rain. In view of the rapidly rising water level, the administration of Karnailganj tehsil has prepared itself. The SDM inspected the village around the dam on Tuesday when it rained and instructed the tax officials stationed at the flood posts to be vigilant at the flood posts.
AE Amresh Singh of the Barh Division says the Elgin Charasdi Dam is still completely safe. There is no danger whatsoever. The potholes caused by rain are repaired, the soil flows. SDM Karnailganj Hiralal Yadav says the village has been inspected and flood posts have been alerted. The villagers who live near the dam are asked to remain vigilant at all times. There is no danger to the dam. Waterlogging has been reported in Raipur Majha village in Barabanki district.
