Kotvadham (Barabanki). Due to the rising water level of the river, the crisis in the Terai has worsened. About a dozen villages are threatened with erosion. Also, given the erosion of the river and the water flowing towards the villages, the exodus of people from the villages has increased and people have started to reach the banks with safe places. But also the problems of the river bank dwellers are increasing. Because of this, the Terai people are very concerned.
The Saryu River currently overflows in the Terai area. Due to the rise in the water level, the river has started to erode quickly. A dozen villages, including Gobraha, Kaharanpurwa, Ithuva East, Bhairavkol, Saraisurjan, Kurmin Tepra, have fallen under the JD of cut. River water can enter these villages at any time due to erosion. Fearing this fact, people have started moving to safer places. Most of the Terai residents are busy building their hideout on the Alinagar Ranimau dam.
The people here say that the situation is worsening due to the continuous discharge of water from Nepal into the river, which has caused many bighas land to be submerged in the river and many villages to come to the mouth of the Katan. At the same time, those who remained in the village have lost their sleep due to the reappearance near the village of Tepra and have also started to evacuate the villages as soon as possible.
At the same time, the problems of those who live on bondage are also increasing. These people say that until now we have not received any help from the administration.
Many plants affected by the water
The Terai people say that due to the increased water level of the river, sugar cane, mentha, chilli, etc. are affected. While the mentha and chilli harvests were completely destroyed by waterlogging in the fields, it cannot be ruled out that the harvest will be damaged by waterlogging in sugarcane fields.
After an on-site visit to villages such as Kothari Gauria, Lodhemu etc. in the floodplain, erosion and an increased water level were found. At the moment the water level is under control, erosion occurs in some places at which the flood section is directed. Instructions were given to establish flood outposts in Kotharigoria Village and Sanawa.
