The farmers’ outstanding sugar cane price was not paid by JHV Sugar Mill Gadaura in the 2017-18 crushing season, which not only brought the farmers to the streets, but after the matter escalated and reached the government, along with legal action, the mill gave in the shredding season also had to be closed. In the shredding season of the 2020-21 financial year, the mill was put into operation with the stipulation that the old residues from the mill and then the fees for the current shredding season were paid. Even after the end of the crushing season, the mill has not yet paid 1.31 crore itself for the 2017-18 crushing season. The payment of the sugar cane price of 26.16 billion rupees outstanding in the current crushing season is still a long way off. Despite instructions from the Cane Department and District Magistrate regarding the payment, the Sugarcane Commissioner RC issued against the mill after responsibilities were lax. District Cane Officer Jagdish Chandra Yadav said the RC was issued to the Gadaura Sugar Mill by the cane commissioner for negligently paying farmers’ outstanding sugar cane price.
