Naraini (Banda). To quench their thirst, rural women have to dig a pit under the pipeline to draw water. What better example of negligence and misery than this? In the village of Mahua Block Panagara, rural women in distress are fighting for water because no drinking water has been available for two months.
The water does not reach the planned and backward box settlements here. The water tank built eight years ago has not yet been put into operation either. The population of Panagara village is about 25 thousand. Nestled between five mountains, the geographical location of this village is high and low. Eight years ago, Jal Nigam built an overhead tank and five tube wells for several million dollars. The villagers were given connections by laying pipelines all the way to the village and Majro Gaur-Shivpur. Villagers said they provided the resources, but deliveries have not started to this day.
Even today women have to dig a pit under the pipeline to get water from the leak. Every day there is a gathering of women who fetch water. Villagers said that Pradhan received supplies for a few days through the use of private workers. It’s been three to four years since the engine exploded. Nobody listens. Village chief Jagdish Prasad Yadav said the problem was often verbally communicated to department officials. Now he has complained on the portal of Superintending Engineer (Bhuragarh) etc. including the Chief Minister.
