Pilibhit. DM Pulkit Khare was valued for buying rice more than the target and benefiting more farmers from MSP (Minimum Support Price) with transparency. The government honored the DM with a quote.
Paddy procurement began on October 1st last year and lasted through January 31st. The district’s goal was to purchase 32.5 lakh metric tons. As always, middlemen dominated the centers and there was chaos, then the DM itself took over command. After that, cases were also registered in which those responsible at the center were suspended. The middlemen were also caught. After that, 34.03 lakh metric tons of rice more than the target was procured. Last year the rice fields of 41,107 farmers could be bought in the centers, this time it was 62,975. The government praised the DM for the fact that it benefited more farmers than before from MSP. The chief secretary of the food and logistics department, Veena Kumari, has sent Commissioner Manish Chauhan a quote to the DM.
The number of farmers also increased in wheat procurement
As with Paddy, this time around, more farmers benefit from MSP when sourcing wheat. Last year, 1.55 lakh metric tons of wheat were procured from 17,598 farmers. But this time also the purchase and with it the number of farmers increased. 2.17 lakh metric tons of wheat were obtained from 39,612 farmers. It is believed that this is the result of the severity with which the smallholder farmers are seriously weighed in the harvest centers.
