Priyanka Chopra expresses ’emotional and pride’ at pre-Oscars ceremony to celebrate South Asian talent

It was recently confirmed that Priyanka Chopra Will co-host a pre-Oscars event in Los Angeles that celebrates South Asian excellence in Hollywood. The actress, who has become a global icon with her work in Bollywood and Hollywood, gave a speech recalling her journey in the West and said she felt proud to host the event.

In an Instagram story shared by Jay Shetty, the author thanked Priyanka Chopra for hosting the event and also shared a clip of the actress’s inaugural speech, where she made her Hollywood debut ten years ago. During the speech, Priyanka said, “My hair has gone up. I am emotional.” He added, “I am very proud to have encouraged you all, shoulder to shoulder with all of you.”

For the event, Priyanka opted to stay close to her roots in terms of choosing an outfit as the actress wore a black sari. The event was co-hosted by Mindy Kaling, Kumail Nanjiani, Anjula Acharya, Bela Bajaria, Manish K. Goya and Shruti Ganguly. Later Priyanka was seen presenting Riz Ahmed, a special guest for the evening, at the event.

Jay Shetty, who shared a series of stories from the event on his Instagram account, termed it a “wonderful evening” and thanked Priyanka Chopra for hosting it.

Other distinguished guests who were invited for the event included nominees like Surosh Alvi, Choying Dorjee, Joseph Patel, Anil Karia, Elizabeth Mirzai and Gulistan Mirzai. As for the Academy Awards, Oscars 2022 will be held on March 27.
