Prithviraj actor Akshay Kumar opens up on Hindi vs South row
Prithviraj actor Akshay Kumar has spoken openly on the Hindi vs South row which has been a topic of discussion for the last one month or so. It may be recalled that a Twitter conversation between Ajay Devgn and Kichha Sudeep had sparked a debate about Hindi as the national language of India. Akshay told India Today, “I don’t believe in this division. I hate it when someone says South Industry and North. We are all an industry and that’s what I believe. I think we should stop asking this question. It is important that we understand that the British ruled us by dividing us. We never learned our lesson. We still don’t understand this part. I think the day we realize that we are an industry, things will start working better for us.”
On the subject of remixes and remakes, Akshay said, “Someone in the morning asked me about the remake and why are we remaking it? I asked why not! What’s the problem? Is there any problem in remaking? OMG, hey God! My film was made in Telugu and became a huge hit. We made his Rowdy Rathore and worked for all of us. Why does anyone have a problem? Why shouldn’t this happen? People ask questions on remix songs, why don’t we remix? Originals are being made and then there are remakes, why does anyone have a problem with them? If a good film is being made in the South and we buy the rights and remake it, what’s wrong with it?
