Ambedkar Nagar. NTPC Tanda reached another milestone on Thursday. The commercial operation of the second block with 660 MW of phase II was announced late at night. The total installed capacity of the Tanda Super Thermal Power Station was 1760 MW in commercial operation.
The first phase II block with 660 MW went into commercial operation in November 2019. This increases the total commercial capacity of NTPC and NTPC Group to 52,400 MW and 65,165 MW, respectively. A program was organized in the control room of the second unit to achieve NTPC. It was attended by senior officials from the NTPC.
Top management executives expressed their satisfaction with the performance by virtually participating in the program. The Executive Director KS Rao expressed his joy and said that realizing the full potential is the priority of all departments and authorities concerned. Said Block # 6 was declared commercial operation Thursday. With that, the collective dream was finally fulfilled.
On the flip side, Jayant Sen Sharma, General Manager Operations & Commising, recalled the journey to achieve the full potential of Phase II that his goal was to get both Phase II units up and running successfully. In order to achieve the goal, many challenges had to be overcome. But his team held onto its ideological firmness and never looked back. Said electricity is everyone’s need. It has become an integral part of life. Especially during this pandemic. It has been reported that 78 percent of the electricity generated from units 5 and 6 of the second phase will be provided to Uttar Pradesh. The rest is pledged to Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Chandigarh.
