The beginning of the week has been sad. Noted actor and award-winning screenwriter Shiva Kumar Subramaniam passed away in the city on Sunday night, April 10. The 2 States actor, who was known for his standout onscreen presence, acted in several Hindi films. While the exact details of his demise are not yet known, filmmaker Hansal Mehta shared a statement on social media. The statement also included details of the funeral which is scheduled to take place in the city on Monday morning.

Announcing the passing of Siva Subramaniam, the statement said, “With profound and heartfelt grief, we would like to inform you of the passing of one of the most revered and great souls to live in human form – our most Dear Shiva Subramaniam. Incredibly talented, he was much loved. And respected personally as well as professionally.”

Siva Subramaniam, was recently seen in Netflix family drama Meenakshi Sundareswarar opposite Sanya Malhotra. One of his most memorable performances in recent years has been in 2 States where he starred as Alia Bhatt’s onscreen father. His work as a person suffering from dementia in Tu Hai Mera Sunday was also highly appreciated and appreciated.

Apart from acting, Siva Subramaniam was a renowned screenwriter. He often collaborated with filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra and is credited with Sudhir Mishra for scripting films such as Parinda, 1942 A Love Story and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.
