New Delhi: There are 15-20 Indians in war-torn Ukraine who want to leave and all help is being provided to them, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday, adding that “Operation Ganga” is still on.
At a media briefing here, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said it was a war situation but “we will continue to do what we can to extract what we want”.
“Till about three days ago, there were around 50 Indians who were there. We estimate that there are 15-20 people who want to leave that country, others who are there don’t want to leave now. We are providing them as much as possible. Help,” said Bagchi.
Noting that over 22,500 Indians have been brought back from the Eastern European country, he said there are people in different pockets and “this is an emerging situation”.
Asked about the three Indians stranded in Kherson, Ukraine, he said that the focus is on evacuating them and any route can be taken. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, “Many people have said that ‘Operation Ganga’ is over. It is not. Those who want to evacuate, we are helping them through our embassy operating out of Warsaw (in Poland). Huh.” agencies
