On the grounds of Meerut city, once Dadda i.e. Major Dhyanchand had shown the magic of hockey for ten years. But at present hockey is going through a bad phase. There were once 18 hockey clubs here, but today not even one. This is where Olympians MP Singh and James Romeo shone.At present only about 150 players are taking hockey training. Of these, 50 girls on the NAS ground, while the number of players in BAV, Vision Vidyapeeth, SD Sadar and Kailash Prakash Stadium is only about 100. With the success in Tokyo, good days are expected for the game. Olympian Vandana Kataria, who once trained here, is also currently part of Team India.

Recently the work has been given from Ghaziabad unit to Meerut unit. But the pace of work did not increase. Regional Sports Officer Gadadhar Tarki said that after talking to the company officials, instructions have been given to expedite the work.
