
Massive fire breaks out at a commercial building in Delhi, 27 killed; PM Narendra Modi’s tweet
A massive fire broke out in a four-storey building near Mundka metro station in the west on Friday evening. Delhi, taking many lives. So far 27 bodies have been found and investigators fear the number may rise. According to officials, the entire floor of the building is yet to be searched. At present the fire has been brought under control and the rescue work is going on.
More than 40 people were hospitalized after the burns. According to officials, 60-70 people were evacuated from the structure. According to Delhi Deputy Chief Fire Officer Sunil Choudhary, “It was a CCTV godown and office. We have been conducting searches since then. People said that many people are trapped inside.”

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (External) Sameer Sharma, the fire first broke out on the first floor of the building, which houses the workplace of a company manufacturing CCTV cameras and routers. According to ANI, the fire department said that they received the information at 4.40 pm after which 20 firefighters reached the spot.
Prime minister Narendra Modi Expressed his condolences and tweeted, “Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to the massive fire in Delhi. My condolences to the bereaved families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.” The PM’s office also tweeted that the families of those who died would be given Rs 2 lakh each, while the injured would be given Rs 50,000 each.
