Legal Awareness Camp Organized In District Jail

A legal awareness camp and inspection was conducted on the subject of Redressing the Grievances of Under Trial Prisoners in Ghazipur District Jail. In which the prisoners were asked their problems and necessary guidelines were given for their rights. The prisoners were given detailed information about their constitutional rights.
The event was organized by Kamayani Dubey, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority. Jail Superintendent Hari Om Sharma told that at present a total of 973 prisoners are under detention. In which 873 are male, 39 female prisoners with one child and 61 are minors.
Said that everyone should have breakfast – porridge, tea, lunch – bread, rice, tur dal, vegetables (potatoes, brinjals), evening food – bread, rice, gram, urad dal, vegetables (potatoes, okra) ) is provided. At the same time, in view of Kovid-19, the Secretary directed to keep the new prisoners isolated first, as well as for investigation and sanitization if they have suspicious symptoms. Along with this, after talking to many prisoners of the jail, understanding their problems and instructed for their disposal.
It was said that the Jail was directed to pay special attention to the Jail Legal Clinic located in the District Jail so that the prisoners detained in the jail could get timely and proper legal aid. For free advocate and to get any other help, the office can get the benefit by sending an application to the District Legal Services Authority.
