The National Joint Advocates Forum held a virtual session on Monday to call for help from coronavirus infected lawyers. It decided that if the government did not comply with their demands, proponents would take to the streets. An eight-point sheet on their demands was sent to the Prime Minister.
Many lawyers from the district also attended and gave their views in the virtual meeting organized by the National Joint Advocates Forum. The lawyers said the government should provide the financial aid for the families of the corona-related lawyers and the job for the relatives as well as the treatment costs of the corona-infected lawyers. Due to the closure of the court, lawyers should receive financial support. The money that goes to the government for welfare cards should be added to the financial aid of the lawyers. The government should provide the lawyers with a five lakh rupee loan for seven years with no interest. The government should also provide lawyers over the age of 60 with a pension, one lakh grant for lawyers suffering from a serious illness, and facilities for medical claims. Proponents said that today there are only those in trouble who bring justice to the people. If the government does not accept the lawyers’ demands soon, the lawyers will be forced to agitate on the streets even during the Corona period. President Ajit Kant Mishra, the responsible State Secretary Mridul Yadav, National Secretary Himanshu Srivastava, Hare Ram Pandey, Pushpa Singh, Radha Yadav, Salma Khatoon, Surendra Prajapati, Omprakash Pal, Shalini Mishra, Suryamani Pandey and other advocates were present at the meeting.
