Lata Mangeshkar’s health has “improved slightly,” says the doctor

New Delhi:

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, who was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday after testing positive for COVID-19, is doing a little better, the ANI news agency reported. The singer, who also suffers from pneumonia, will remain in the intensive care unit at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, ANI reported. “Lata Mangeshkar is still in intensive care, but her health has improved slightly,” said Dr. Pratit Samdani, who treated the legendary singer, told ANI.

On Wednesday, the doctor told the ANI news agency that the 92-year-old singer would be kept under observation for the next 10-12 days.

After the singer was hospitalized, Lata Mangeshkar’s niece Rachna confirmed to NDTV that she suffered from mild covid and was in intensive care. She added, “Keep them in your prayers. Your prayers are precious.”

Popularly known as the “Nightingale of India”, Lata Mangeshkar has sung in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and other regional languages. During her illustrious career as one of India’s most renowned musicians, she has received the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards as well as several National and Filmfare Awards. Lata Mangeshkar’s last full album was for Bollywood release in 2004 Veer-Zaara.

Lata Mangeshkar got her first big break with the song Dil Mera Toda from the 1948 film major. But her song Aayega Aanewaala from the movie Expensive (1949) became her first big hit.
