Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, who was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Tuesday after testing positive for COVID-19, will remain under surveillance in intensive care, PTI news agency reported on Saturday. dr Pratit Samdani, who is treating the veteran singer, told PTI: “She continues to be monitored in intensive care. We must wait and watch. Pray for her recovery. She will remain hospitalized.” The singer, who was hospitalized after testing positive for Covid, has also been diagnosed with pneumonia.
On Thursday, the singer’s family members said she was fine. Her niece Rachana told the PTI news agency on Thursday: “She is fine and we are happy about it. Everyone’s prayers worked. Please consider our privacy.”
Popularly known as the ‘Nightingale of India’, Lata Mangeshkar has sung in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and other regional languages. During her illustrious career as one of India’s most acclaimed musicians, she has been recognized with the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards, as well as multiple National and Filmfare Awards. Lata Mangeshkar’s last full album was released in Bollywood in 2004 Veer-Zaara.
Lata Mangeshkar had her first big break with the song Dil Mera Toda from the 1948 film Majboor. However, her song Aayega Aanewaala from the movie Expensive (1949) became her first big hit.
