Laal Singh Chaddha writer Atul Kulkarni on North vs South debate

Atul Kulkarni, author of Laal Singh Chaddha, shares his thoughts on the current North vs South debate in the country. Movies like RRR, Pushpa, and KGF Chapter 2 were big box office hits this year, even when they left the cash register ringing. This has started a debate about the performance of Bollywood films and films from the South, and whether Bollywood is falling behind in producing blockbuster cinema. Many celebrities, actors and directors have expressed their opinion about it. Recently, Chandni Bar actor and Laal Singh Chaddha writer Atul Kulkarni joined Pinkvilla for a chat. Meanwhile, he also shared his opinion on this.

According to Atul Kulkarni, ordinary moviegoers don’t care about the North vs. South debate. He said: “I have always wondered, when we say ‘bahus’, who does this ‘bahus’. I don’t see ordinary moviegoers arguing about it. An ordinary moviegoer sees a movie that he likes. They are not scholars. They are not here to write thesis on cinema. They just have their instincts. When they see the trailer, when they see the songs, when they see the names of the actors and all that, they have a feeling whether they should watch it or not. And then they hear from their peers and family members who have seen the movie, and if they recommend it and all that. So, I don’t get into these so-called debates, in fact, because, according to me, they don’t exist for the common movie buff. ,

Speaking of Laal Singh Chaddha, the film stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Naga Chaitanya in the lead roles. It is directed by Advait Chandan and is scheduled to be released on August 11, the same day Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan hits theaters. Recently, Aamir revealed on Koffee With Karan 7 that he hadn’t initially heard the script, and wondered who would ever make such a classic six-Academy Award-winning film again. But, he shared, he was convinced as soon as he read the script after two years.
