Jamia Millia Islamia University Grants Commission (UGC) is likely to release the first merit list of selected candidates for admission to 10 undergraduate courses through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) by September 26, as per the tentative admission timings released on Thursday. .

After the declaration of the first list of candidates on 26 September, candidates will be able to take admission from 29 September to 1 October. The second list of selected candidates will be announced on October 6, with a three-day admission window from October. 10 -12. The third list of selected candidates will come on October 17 and students will be able to secure admission on October 20-21. The fourth and final list of candidates, provided that there are still vacant seats, will be released on October 26 and admission can be secured between October 28 and October 31.

Classes for first year students are expected to start from October 3.

“The rank list will be published on the basis of final rank of CUET 2022, strictly as per the merit of JMI and Muslim minority policy,” the UGC said.

Unlike other central government universities in the national capital, which have adopted CUET as the basis for admission to almost all their courses, Jamia has adopted CUET scores for admission of students to only 10 undergraduate programs in the 2022-23 academic session. The UGC also outlined the admission schedule for Delhi University, which was shared by the university earlier. However, the commission did not share any tentative date to start classes for the first year students.

Meanwhile, the UGC said that the information regarding the deadline for admission in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is awaited. In a notification on September 16, JNU had said that the university is processing the data of candidates received from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the admission portal will be launched soon.

“Consequent to the declaration of CUET (UG)-2022 result by NTA, the Admission Branch is processing the data/details of the candidates provided by NTA and will soon open the portal on JNU website for the candidates seeking admission in JNU. Fill the application form by paying processing fee,” the notification said.
