A youth injured in an accident near Jigina Mor in the Santakbirnagar district died on Monday while being brought to Lucknow for treatment. The family reached the county hospital with the body. The police later took possession of the body and sent it post-mortem. Family members suffering from the incident were in a weeping state.Manoj Kumar Putra Sriram, a resident of Jigina village in the Kotwali region, said his 34-year-old brother cycled home from Khalilabad on April 14. Jigina had just turned the corner on the National Highway when she was hit by a vehicle driving by at negligently high speed.

People on the spot sent him to the district hospital, from where doctors referred him to Gorakhpur Medical College for first aid. He was admitted to a private hospital in Gorakhpur for better treatment, but when the situation did not improve, he was taken to Lucknow, where he died on the way.

The family arrived at the district hospital with the body on Monday and requested action against the Kotwali police. Kotwal Manoj Kumar Pandey said the body was sent for an autopsy. One case was recorded against the driver of the victim brother Manoj Kumar on the Tahrir.
