The Indian hockey team defeated Germany 5-4 in the Tokyo Olympics to win the bronze medal for the country. After 41 years, hockey players, sports lovers and countrymen are in awe of this team’s success in the Olympic Games. On winning the bronze medal, hockey players and sports enthusiasts took out a procession in the city from Nehru Stadium in Gorabazar of the city, carrying the tricolor flag and accompanied by dhol, tasa and nagara. The procession left Nehru Stadium and ended at PG College Square via Vikas Bhawan. The people involved were shouting slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Hip-Hip Hurray. The people involved in the procession to the tune of dhol, tasa were seen singing and dancing in celebration of the victory of the Indian hockey team. Hockey coach Nafees Ahmed, football coach Sangeeta Yadav, Gyasuddin Azad, Dinesh Yadav, Mohammad Ilyas, Mohd. Shahid, Rajan Prajapati, Parvez Ahmed, Asif Iqbal, Mahtab Alam, Munis Ansari, Brijesh Yadav, Karan Kumar, Ravi Gupta, Rustom Ansari, Moin, Warsi etc. sports lovers, hockey players and stadium staff were present. At the end of the program, Deputy Sports Officer Jawaharlal Yadav and Senior Clerk Sudama Ram expressed gratitude.
