Increased pressure on AP Dam, people in border villages restless
Tamkuhirod (Kushinagar). Due to the constant fluctuations in the water level of the Gandak River, the water pressure from the Narvajot Dam to the AP Dam increases continuously. This has added to the unrest of the people who live on the banks of the dam. The situation is that the river meets the dam directly in many other sensitive places including Noniapatti, which is a cause for concern for people.
Several projects are underway on the Narvajot Dam and AP Dam, costing Rs 104 crore last year and around 53 crore this year. Meanwhile, the pressure of the river on the dam from Narvajot to Lagayat Ahirolidan is also increasing. In several sensitive places, including Noniapatti, the river flows against the dam, indicating a great danger. The river has previously wreaked havoc in Narvajot, Chainpatti and Noniapatti due to such a situation. In addition, people in the villages on the banks of the dam know that in such a situation, the river can damage the dam as it rolls back. Because with the rising water, the ongoing rescue work was canceled at all points. Pappu Singh, Prahlad Ram, Anvat Baitha, Kailash Singh, Sanjay Singh, Pappu Yadav etc. say that the work of the projects is still incomplete in many places. In such a situation, if they are not completed on time, the situation can deteriorate at any time and the safety of the villages and the dam can also be at risk.
SK Priyadarshi, SDO of Barh Khand III, says the dam is safe. Rescue work begins when the water level drops.
