Mumbai, New Pradesh. Sayings like ‘Neki kar dariya mein daal’ fit Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty perfectly. Sunil Shetty is a hero on the big screen, but his real life exploits are nothing short of a superhero.
Years ago, Sunil Shetty had rescued not one, but two, but 128 girls from prostitution and sent them home. The funny thing is that the actor did a great job but he didn’t tell anyone for years.
In 1996, around 450 Kamathipura sex workers were evicted from prostitution. Of these 128 girls were from Nepal, but the Government of Nepal had refused to adopt these girls.
Then-Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty reportedly presented himself as a messiah and not only took those 128 girls to Nepal by getting plane tickets with his own money, but also made sure they all reached their homes. . .
If the reports are to be believed, Sunil Shetty didn’t want to talk to anyone about this because he felt if this got out, there would be trouble for those girls.
Sunil Shetty refused to take full credit for this good work of social reform in an interview. The actor said that apart from him, there was hard work from many people. Referring to the incident in an interview given to Bollywood Hungama, the actor had said that a whole movie can be made about this incident.
