Health – two other covid hospitals closed due to lack of oxygen

Unnao. All beds at Kovid Eltu Hospital at Saraswati Medical College are full. The district hospital’s emergency and isolation ward is also full. Families move from rate to rate seeking treatment for the sick. Patients are not admitted due to full beds. The shortage of oxygen bottles failed to open two more Kovid hospitals. The Ministry of Health is now focusing on patient isolation at home.
The Kovid Hospital (Saraswati Medical College) has 330 beds. It has 30 beds in the intensive care unit, 50 beds in the HDU (High Dependency Unit) and 250 beds for general covid patients. Most of the patients admitted here require oxygen immediately. The lack of oxygen and bottles causes treatment problems. Due to an oxygen supply of only five to six hours compared to admitted patients, the Kovid Hospital does not take on any new patients. Administration began with the opening of a hundred-bed Kovid hospital in the newly built one-hundred-bed hospital in Maurawan and the Sriramurthi Memorial Medical College in Nawabganj. DM had said they would be opening two more covid hospitals soon, but after other resources were raised, the problem of oxygen got in the way. Both hospitals do not have a central oxygen system. Sufficient oxygen bottles are also not available in the district. Due to the lack of empty cylinders for additional cylinders to be available in the hospital and refills to maintain a 10 to 12 hour backup along with the provision of oxygen, both hospitals will not be able to start operating. City magistrate Chandan Kumar Patel said that oxygen is currently being supplied as per Lucknow and Kanpur requirements. To establish two more hospitals, at least 200 oxygen cylinders are required.
