Ghazipur. The 88th birthday of Param Vir Chakra winner Shaheed Veer Abdul Hameed was celebrated by The Legend Veer Abdul Hameed Trust in the village of Dhamupur. The organization’s president and grandson Jameel Alam shared the memories of his grandfather, Param Vir Chakra winner Veer Abdul Hameed, that he was born on July 1, 1933 into an ordinary family. He was drafted into the Indian Army’s Grenadier Regiment on December 27, 1954. He was later transferred to the 4th Grenadier Battalion, where he served until his military service. During the Indo-China War in 1962, Veer Abdul Hameed was part of the 7th Infantry Brigade that took on the People’s Liberation Army. He received the Param Vir Chakra for his martyrdom in the destruction of 8 tanks in the Khemkaran sector in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965.
