Barot. As of Thursday, the government had ordered the free distribution of food grains to cardholders in the district until June 15. But the food grains did not reach the government marketing bureau. In Baraut tehsil only five ration traders had received food grains that were picked up. They didn’t even deliver. 212 ration vendors continued to wait for the food grains to arrive. Responsible officials did not care either.
In view of the corona epidemic, the government had instructed eligible households and holders of the Antyodaya card to provide five kg of free cereal grains per unit. Three kg of wheat and two kg of rice should be provided per unit. A team of officers was also formed to monitor this. Nevertheless, the rations dealers did not distribute feed grain for free, nor did they show any interest in fetching the goods from the marketing office. Out of 217 rationers in Baraut Tehsil, only five collected grains of food, but they did not even distribute rations. Cardholders were concerned about consuming a ration throughout the day.
