Gaikwad has so far recorded scores of 0, 1, 1 and 16 in IPL 2022.
Chennai Super Kings is facing a tough time Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 And so is their opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. The right-handed batsman enjoyed a highly productive season in 2021 and even bagged the Orange Cap by scoring 635 runs. However, the tables have turned as Gaikwad is enduring one failure after another.
So far, they have recorded scores of 0, 1, 1 and 16 as the defending champions lost their first four games of the season. Talking about his struggle, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg believes that Gaikwad is worried about playing for the Indian team and has been the same hostility this season as well. Hence, Hogg said that the 25-year-old should focus on playing well for CSK instead of thinking about his future.
Brad Hogg has a piece of advice for Ruturaj Gaikwad
“If Gaikwad is thinking of playing for India instead of what he can do for the team, he will be found wanted. Because you can’t think like that. Hogg said on his YouTube channel, “You have to focus on what you’re doing now and let everything else do for you.”
Notably, Gaikwad’s valor saw him make his Team India debut last season. He played three T20 matches and scored 39 runs. Although he did not get regular chances in the playing XI, he remained in the squad for several white-ball series. With such a disappointing performance, he is unlikely to be a part of India’s upcoming white-ball assignment. That’s why the young man should get ready.
Meanwhile, Hogg also explained CSK’s struggles, saying that the side has been poor in all departments. “Simply, they (CSK) are not batting, bowling or fielding well. All three departments, they are outplaying. We go to the top of the first order – Ruturaj Gaikwadi, Currently, he is facing his struggles on bouncer wickets in Mumbai,” said the former KKR spinner.
“He doesn’t know whether to play a cut shot or a backfoot drive; He is just flirting outside the off-stump and giving chances to the opposition teams.
