Balrampur. As the floods receded, the erosion in the Rapti River increased. There is panic among the villagers about the cutting of the Rapti River. Erosion control work has been carried out on the Rapti River in 35 places in the district, but in many places the Rapti River devours the valuable land and people’s homes.
The villagers have asked the administration to take action to combat the deforestation. Tulsipur SDM carried out a surprise inspection of the construction of the dam on the Kharjhar Canal and gave instructions to the officials of the flood section.
The devastation of the Rapti River’s flood has stopped, but the devastation of erosion continues. Last year, the Kalyanpur Elementary School building of the Shivpura Education Area was added to the Rapti River.
The flood department officials tried to control erosion by planting earth sacks and bamboo percupins in bamboo boxes, tree spur and nylon boxes to prevent erosion in the village of Parsauna.
Cut protection work has also been carried out in the village of Gonkot in Utraula tehsil to control erosion. Work has been done to protect the Karamhana Bhojpur dam from erosion. Erosion control work has also been carried out near Nabasta, Rajwapur, the Bhojpur Shahpur escarpment, Januka and Nainsukhwa villages.
