New Delhi: The Indian mission in Ukraine on Tuesday said it has rescued 52 of the 75 Indian sailors stranded at the Mykolaiv port in war-torn Ukraine.
It also said that efforts to evacuate the remaining 23 sailors would be made on Tuesday.
The Indian Embassy in Ukraine said in a tweet, “Mission intervened to rescue 75 Indian sailors stranded at Mykolaiv Port. Yesterday, buses arranged by the mission evacuated a total of 57 sailors including 2 Lebanese and 3 Syrian.”
“The evacuation of the remaining 23 sailors was hampered due to roadblocks. The mission is trying to rescue them today,” the statement said.
India has brought back over 17,100 of its citizens in 83 flights under ‘Operation Ganga’, which was launched after Russia’s military offensive against Ukraine on February 26.
