Electricity – Six feeders in breakdown, the lights of consumers go off

Sultanpur. The effect of the ongoing strike of power contract workers in Lucknow has started showing on the second day on Wednesday. Due to shortage of staff and engineers in the power distribution section, six feeders went into breakdown on Wednesday. Engineers remained troubled throughout the day due to the fault and the lights of consumers’ homes went off.
The dharna of the electricity contract workers in Lucknow since Tuesday regarding the demands has started affecting it from the second day itself. On Tuesday, there was no particular fault in the district due to the weather, but on Wednesday, due to the increase in humidity, the problems started. By Wednesday afternoon, six feeders including Chanda, Karaundikalan, Rampur went into breakdown due to various faults. Along with this, other problems including wire breakage, transformer failure kept coming at various places.
The supply of many villages connected to the Kudwar power substation was stalled. Consumers complained about this to XEN, but even after this, the power supply could not improve till evening. The employees and engineers of the Electricity Department posted at the sub-stations struggled with the problems of the consumers throughout the day. Engineers and employees were upset due to the increase in fault. Lights went off for thousands of consumers. Ajay Chaurasia, District General Secretary of Contractual Employees Union told from the dharna in Lucknow that the consumers were upset due to failure to attend the fault till late evening. The focus of the distribution staff and engineers remained on the major fault.
