According to the data, 1,68,300 e-vehicles were sold in the country during 2019-20. Retail sales of EVs tripled to 17,802 units during 2021-22. In 2020-21, this figure was 4,984 units. Tata Motors has the largest share in the total sales.

Retail sales of e-vehicles in the country more than tripled to cross four lakh units in 2021-22. Two wheelers contributed the most to the total sales. According to Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), a total of 4,29,217 e-vehicles were sold during the last financial year. In 2020-21, 1,34,821 e-vehicles were sold.

Its market share during this period stood at 85.37 percent. With 1,115 e-vehicles sold, MG Motor stood second, Mahindra with 156 units followed by Hyundai Motor with 128 units. Sales of e-two wheelers increased by 5 times to 2,31,338 units. In 2020-21, 41,046 e-two-wheelers were sold. Hero Electric topped the segment with sales of 65,303 units.
