12 digit universal account number will be in the card: Workers in the unorganized sector include construction workers, migrant workers, street vendors and domestic workers, etc. The 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) will be there in the e-Shram card. This card will be valid everywhere in the whole country. The UAN number will be a permanent number i.e. once provided, it will remain unchanged for the worker. E-Shram Card is valid for lifetime. So there is no need for its renewal.
Workers can regularly update their details, mobile number, current address etc. To keep your account active, it is necessary to update your account at least once a year. Workers can update their details by visiting the e-shram portal or through CSC. The details that can be updated include mobile number, current address, occupation, educational qualification, type of skill, family details etc.
Who can take e-shram card: The e-shram card is only for the workers of the unorganized sector. Therefore, the members of EPFO or ESIC will not be able to register on the e-shram portal. Any worker who is a home-based worker, self-employed worker or a salaried worker working in the unorganized sector and is not a member of ESIC or EPFO, is called an unorganized worker. The unorganized sector includes establishments/units which are engaged in the production/sale of goods/services and employing less than 10 workers.
These units are not covered under ESIC and EPFO. There are no income criteria for registration on the e-shram portal as an unorganized worker. There is no income criteria for registration on the e-shram portal but the worker should not be an income tax payer.
How many lakhs will get free insurance: An accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the registered worker on the e-shram portal. If the registered worker on the portal is a victim of an accident, then in the event of death or complete disability, an amount of Rs 2 lakh will be given. At the same time, if the worker is partially disabled, then he will be entitled to one lakh rupees under this insurance scheme.
How will the registration be done and what will be the money? Any person aged 16 to 59 years can register for this card. Registration e-Shram Portal https://eshram.gov.in/ Through this, the worker can either do it himself or can get it done by visiting the Common Service Center (CSC). Registration is completely free. Workers will not have to make any payment for registration on the portal or Common Service Center.
what documents will be needed For registration on the portal, workers will have to enter information like name, profession, address, educational qualification, skill. As soon as you enter the Aadhaar number for registration, all the information of the worker from the database there will automatically be visible on the portal. The person has to fill the rest of the required information. The following documents are required by a worker to register on the e-shram portal:
Aadhaar linked mobile number.
If a worker has a link with Aadhaar.
If mobile number is not there, he/she can visit nearest CSC and register through biometric authentication.
What is the process to be followed in case of death of worker? In case of death of the registered worker, the person nominated by the worker or the family member will have to file a claim on the e-shram portal/CSC along with relevant documents. They can also approach their respective banks. The worker need not take any action after attaining the age of 60 years. They will get their official benefits under the Eshram project.
