Dylan O’Brien, who played Stiles Stilinsky on the popular MTV show Teen Wolf, discussed with Variety his decision not to join Paramount for his next film, reviving the hit television series. The actor expressed grief over the difficult decision making in an interview with Variety while promoting his new film, The Outfit. He seems to have given it a lot of thought before outright refusing to be such a good part of something while “trying to figure it out”.
Dylan has won many hearts throughout the show with his vibrant screen presence. His career was launched by the series, leading him to participate in the Maze Runners franchise and the Transformers spin-off Bumblebee. Dylan told Variety, “[The movie] There was something I was trying to work out but it all happened too fast. We really didn’t know this was happening and they threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show. We were trying to figure it out.”
For those wondering, Teen Wolf was a 100-episode show that aired from 2011 to 2017. The plot revolves around the underground antics of a group of werewolves in California. According to Variety, it was only in February that Paramount announced a revival of the show with the same cast and producer, Jeff Davis. Interestingly, Dylan O’Brien, on the other hand, isn’t the only one who didn’t make it to the project. Other names dropped by Paramount Pictures include Arden Cho and Tyler Hoechlin.
Although some key figures, such as Dylan, would not be involved in the revival, other members of the original core cast, such as Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Crystal Reed, Colton Haynes, and many others, would return their roles. The revival film is expected to premiere later in 2022.
